Every diet I've done seems to allow for a 'crazy day'. Weight Watcher's had the Flex points which was 35 points in addition to your daily allowance to blow as you see fit. 6WBMO had flat out crazy day but it was only to be used once you hit your goal. When I was suffering on that diet I noticed that once I was past the 6 weeks and my metabolism had increased I could have a crazy day and would actually lose weight. Based on that, I could only conclude my body needed some fat to burn fat. Why the program didn't allow for it until the weight goal was reached was beyond me. Maybe if they did it wouldn't be such a bad diet. But eating so much crap to get to one crazy day just wasn't worth it for me.

Lost 8 lbs. Week 1
One week down. I've lost 8 lbs. After nearly a decade and a half of dieting I'm use to big first weeks and from what I've heard it mostly water and not pure fat. My body is getting ready to start burning fat. The first week was a good one. No cravings. Eating lots of protein helped me feel full all the time. I wasn't dry heaving food I didn't like trying to force it down. My main obstacle was trying to find time to exercise. I either walked or did my Tony Little Gazelle a few times a week. Not everyday. I also have two Biggest Loser workout dvd's I have to start. I put one in on a Thursday and it broke into sub menus; Week 1, Week 2, etc and then started with Monday. Now I could do Mondays workout on Thursday....it would just lead to confusion.

Shopping....aahhhhh!!!
There have been two recent shopping stints and both have come after basking in the pleasures of three restaurants. Yup, three restaurants. Last week, the girls (cousin in laws) and I went to PF Changs for dinner and not liking the dessert menu crossed the mall to The Cheesecake Factory. That's the dream!!! Eggrolls to tiramisu cheesecake with two mudslides to boot. Anyway, after Carb Fest 2010 one of the girls and I, Sarah, went shopping. This is always a great time to go shopping right? After you've eaten everything in the restaurant twice.

So Far So Good!
It’s been a few days and so far so good. I haven’t yet said to myself, “Ugh, this tastes gross,” or “I wish I could have that.” I found a quick breakfast I can do without forcing down the last 5 bites fighting dry heaves. Biggest Loser is all about protein. So is 6WBMO but not as much protein and with nothing to pimp it up. In the past, I’d watch The Biggest Loser on TV while in the middle of 6WBMO totally upset they got to eat cereal, drink milk and have sub rolls at Subway. No one ever complained about the food and I’d be at home going, “Crap, I have to eat again.”

Week 1 and the Diet Wars
I'm in the middle of Week 1 of The Biggest Loser - 6 Weeks to a Healthy You diet. In my case it will be 6 months. I've tried several diets. They didn't fail, they just aren't for me. Weight Watchers was too loose and Six Week Body makeover was too strict. 6WBMO is a great diet if you don't really like food...or pooping.

How'd I Get So Fat?
There have been many contributing factors to my current weight. Basically everything. If it can make you fat check the box for me. Genetics, inherited slow metabolism, constant fasting, having three BIG babies, emotional eater, husband works a lot, elastic waist pants, wasn't really taught proper nutrition, listening to the wrong people, boredom, the food pyramid has been wrong 95% of my life, Cookie Monster, not feeling worthy enough, depression, oh... and um, tiramisu tastes better than an egg white omelet. A perfect storm, if you will, to be enormous.
I wasn't that huge in high school now that I can look back on it. My family and fellow classmates made me feel bigger than I was and since size 16 was hard to find at retail stores I reasoned I must have been huge. So I ate like I was huge and was tormented because of it. Here's what I learned in high school...being 50 pounds overweight made me less than human and entitled to ridicule. What's a cure for ridicule? Cookie dough! Hurray for those comfort carbs....ah sweet serotonin. I will do your evil bidding.

Fat Mom to Skinny Mom
There are probably a thousand blogs about losing weight and while I'm not one to do what everyone else is doing I thought it might be fun to blog my diet. Why? Because I never see anyone like me dieting successfully! Even on The Biggest Loser, out of the women who have won only one has been married with kids (Helen) and her kids were grown and gone.
My situation is pretty common; mother, wife, little kids, hectic schedule, limited time and limited budget. However, I want to be a mom with little kids and the crazy schedule that manages to lose weight. I want to prove it can be done! Thus, having more to show for my life than stretch marks.
